Community Led Waste Management and Awareness Campaign

The Goal


Raise Awareness: Educate at least 80% of Manguo Slum residents on the environmental and health impacts of improper waste disposal and the importance of protecting the Uwaso Ngiro River within 12 months.


Promote Proper Waste Management: Establish community-led waste management systems, including waste segregation and collection, to reduce river pollution by 50% within 12 months.

Strengthen Enforcement: Engage relevant authorities (e.g., Laikipia County Government, National Environment Management Authority - NEMA) to enforce waste management regulations and penalize illegal dumping in the Ewaso Ngiro River.


Build Community Capacity: Train 200 community members, including women and youth, as waste management ambassadors to sustain awareness and practices beyond the project duration.


Improve Environmental Health: Achieve measurable improvements in river water quality and reduce visible waste along the Uwaso Ngiro River by 60% within 18 months.
